Many car owners are thinking about tuning their vehicle. One of the more popular design changes is to understate the car, which gives it a sportier and more aggressive look.
Instructions
Step 1
Remember that along with positive emotions, this procedure will bring one significant drawback - the car may get too low a stance, which will affect when driving. The simplest and most effective way to lower the car is to install the springs with fewer coils or trim the standard ones.
Step 2
To do this, put the car on the handbrake and place stops under the wheels of the part of the machine where work will not be performed. After that, jack up the car and remove the wheels from the part where the springs will be removed. Disconnect the brake hose, which is located in the bracket on the rack. After that, disconnect the link from the pivot arm and mark the position of the adjusting bolt relative to the rack.
Step 3
Unscrew the nut that secures the strut to the steering knuckle and remove the bolt along with the washer. Then unscrew the nuts for securing the rack and remove the telescopic rack. In order to disconnect the spring, clamp the stand in a vise and use a 22 mm wrench to unscrew the nut of the shock absorber rod. At the same time, hold the stem against possible rotation.
Step 4
Disconnect the limit washer, which is designed to control the travel of the upper support. Remove it together with the bearing. After removing the compression travel stop, slide the spring off the shock strut. Using a grinder, reduce it by the value you need, or purchase ready-made products of a shorter length. Remember to replace the springs in pairs.
Step 5
Then reassemble in reverse order, making sure that the springs do not move out of place. To do this, secure them with tape or electrical tape during installation. Be sure to check the functionality of the updated parts.
