An error in the speedometer reading may result in a fine. To prevent this from happening, you need to know how to properly adjust the operation of this device.
Necessary
- - thin marker;
- - pencil;
- - tweezers or thin scissors.
Instructions
Step 1
Speedometers are divided into two types: with and without emphasis. Each of them has its own principle of adjustment. First of all, you need to find out what type of speedometer is in your car. To do this, move the arrow beyond the 220 km / h mark. If it is impossible to move it further, then the speedometer is with a stop.
Step 2
To correctly align the device, follow these steps. Take a pencil or fine marker. Then, while holding the arrow in the stop position, make a mark on the rim of the "glasses" that cover the dashboard. "Glasses" is a motorist jargon that refers to a black plate that has three or more instrument holes. It is not worth putting marks on the scale itself - then you will not be able to wipe them off.
Step 3
Next, remove the arrow and snap the "glasses". Then make a full turn of the shaft, for this you need to pull out the stud, which, as a rule, stands on the latch.
Step 4
Return the speedometer needle to its place. Do it lightly, without undue effort, the speedometer needle should be loose. Start moving it. It will rotate easily since the shaft is in place in this position. You should have a little less than a full turn. As soon as the arrow reaches the mark, immediately click on it, trying to fix it tightly.
Step 5
Now check if the arrow is aligned with the mark by turning it all the way in the locked position. If not, then repeat the procedure again. At the end, snap the stud by releasing the arrow.
Step 6
The second type of speedometer is without a stop. In such a device, when the arrow is scrolled past the 220 km / h mark, it spins further or falls down.
Step 7
To set the speedometer without a stop, move the arrow to the 140 km / h mark (position approximately opposite to the carnation). Next, carefully lift the scale sticker from the side of the nail and squeeze the latch using tweezers or thin scissors.
Step 8
Then remove the stud itself and move the speedometer arrow to "0". It should drop below the stud hole. Make a mark on the rim of the "glasses" directly opposite this place.
Step 9
Next, remove the speedometer needle and adjust the shaft. The following actions are based on the principle of setting the previous type of speedometer. Collect, snap the "glasses", try on the arrow (it should be opposite the mark), press and fix it.
Step 10
Check the meter to make sure it is reading correctly. To do this, pull the arrow and throw it into free fall. It should match the label. If this does not happen, repeat the procedure again. Finally, move the arrow to the top position, snap the nail and release.
