On modern cars, the gas tank cap is opened with a button or lever from the passenger compartment. It is not uncommon for the lid to remain closed by pulling the lever or pressing the button, and the car owner throws up his hands in bewilderment.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are faced with a similar problem in the cold season, most likely the gas tank cap is just frozen to the body. This is especially likely if you found a problem on a frosty morning, and the day before there was precipitation in the form of rain.
Step 2
To open a frozen gas tank cap, it is enough to pour hot water over it and try to reopen it from the passenger compartment. If there is no effect, try tapping lightly on the gas cap with your hand and try again.
Step 3
If the cap is still closed, try locking the fuel cap open lever in the raised position by placing any suitable object under it, and repeat the douche and tap procedure. If the lid opens with a button, have someone help you press the button when you try to open the lid from the outside.
Step 4
In the case when it is warm outside, and there is no reason to consider the cover frozen to the car body, the problem may lie in the breakage of the cable with which it opens. If the cover is opened with a button, the fuse should be checked - it may have blown, and this caused a breakdown.
Step 5
If the fuse is intact, or the lid is opened with a lever, you can try opening the lid from the inside of the trunk. To do this, you will have to remove part of the casing and, reaching the cable with your hand, pull it with your hand. The lid should open.
