Instructions
Step 1
To keep the whole process running smoothly, prepare all the necessary equipment and materials that will be needed when changing the engine oil in your car.
Step 2
Open the hood of your car and drain the used oil through the oil filter filler neck. To do this, loosen the plug with a wrench of the correct size. Be careful not to drop the oil pan into your oil pan. If this does happen, you can get it out with a magnet.
Step 3
For some vehicles that have a filter element or cartridge, as opposed to the simpler spin-on metal filter, you will need to open the built-in reservoir lid.
Step 4
Then you need to understand where the filter element is. On different car models, the filter elements are located in different parts of the oil pan. Find something similar to the part you bought. Once you find it, you need to replace it. This is a difficult procedure, so you are unlikely to succeed the first time. Please be patient and keep trying until you succeed.
Step 5
Replace the oil pan drain plug and replace the gasket or rubber washer.
Step 6
Insert the new filter element into the filter without touching the tubes or other parts. There are many small parts installed inside the filter, such as gaskets or nets. All of them must be replaced to avoid possible leaks. Read the instructions on the box with the new filter element to see how tight you need to screw it in.
Step 7
Fill in new oil through the filter neck. Read the owner's manual for the correct oil level for the engine to function properly. Replace the filler cap, check everything for leaks and close the hood.
Step 8
Start the engine and check that the oil pressure lamp goes out after starting. Look under the underbody of the vehicle to check for leaks while the engine is running. If all this is done and there are no problems, then the process of replacing the engine oil has been successfully completed.
