Wheels are one of the most important parts of a car. There are stamped discs that are not only durable but also reliable. And there are light-alloy ones, with which the car becomes faster and more agile. And there are forged, combining all the advantages of the above.

When you talk about wheels, it is car rims that come to mind. Just think how many cars you see every day. Some have simple, cheapest discs, while others have expensive ones made of high-strength alloys. All designs of automobile wheels can be divided into three large groups - stamped, cast, forged. Each type has its own positive and negative traits. There are also a lot of design options. If you decide to choose wheels for a car, you should know at least in general terms about each type.

Stamped discs

These are the simplest types of wheels, cheap and unpretentious in maintenance. Among their advantages are the price, resistance to deformation. On the negative side - a discreet appearance, which, however, is easily hidden with the help of plastic caps. Such wheels are installed on budget car models directly at the factory.

When falling into a pit, for example, the disc does not burst, but only bends. The consequences can be corrected at any station at which wheel balancing is carried out. Straightening and hanging weights in certain places is all that needs to be done to eliminate the malfunction. Moreover, the repair will not be very expensive, even a complete replacement of all disks will not be able to hit the owner's pocket.

Alloy wheels

Higher in price, much more attractive looking. Advantages - a huge selection of shapes, designs, colors. Minus - aluminum, from which the discs are made, does not bend with sharp blows, but becomes covered with the smallest cracks. True, you need to make a huge effort to damage the wheel. Unfortunately, such discs cannot be repaired. In the event of a crack, it only needs to be replaced.

Many people are attracted to the variety of forms. Almost any design can be found. For the price, however, the cheapest alloy wheel costs two dies, but pay attention to the material. Aluminum, although brittle, is a light metal. Consequently, the mass of the entire wheel turns out to be much less than that of the stamp. The car picks up speed faster, the braking distance is shorter, the handling improves.

Forged wheels

These wheels can already be classified as elite, since the cost of one, the cheapest, is equal to the cost of three or four cheap alloy wheels. Forged discs combine the advantages of cast and stamped discs, they are light enough and resistant to deformation. True, there are also negative features - a small choice of shapes (light alloy wheels do not compete).

But the loads that the wheel can withstand are very large. The likelihood that the disc will bend when it enters the pit is practically zero. If you want quality, and the design does not bother you much, at the same time you are not constrained in finances, it is better to give your preference to forged wheels.
