The question of the possibility of restoring car units is important for many motorists. Today it is common practice to revive steering racks, camshafts, gas pumps and other parts. In most cases, we are talking about the reuse of major assemblies and parts using the replacement of individual worn out parts. Is it possible to restore a car generator, or is this unit subject to unconditional replacement?

Step 1
If you have the required production capacity, use the "replicate" technology. With this method of restoration, only the body of the unit is reused if it is not mechanically damaged. The generator body is being cleaned, into which new components are inserted. Such a restoration technology is used at industrial enterprises and is difficult to implement in the conditions of handicraft repair.
Step 2
In the context of small specialized industries and auto repair shops, use a method for restoring the generator, called rebuilt. It includes manual disassembly of the unit and high-quality cleaning of the case. Then diagnose the components. Replace known defective generator parts with new ones. Clean old functional parts and reuse.
Step 3
In the absence of the necessary technological equipment, perform a simplified restoration of the generator, which in fact is a full-fledged repair. At the same time, the generator body is not subjected to thorough processing, it is enough to clean it with a metal brush and cover it, for example, with "silver". Install new or used parts instead of burnt-out parts, but workable. Intensively worn parts (bearings, etc.) are subject to unconditional replacement.
Step 4
If it is not possible to purchase new components, limit yourself to using serviceable parts from other units in the restored generator. In fact, we are talking about assembling one generator from two or three faulty ones. With such a superficial repair, in extreme cases, it is permissible to use units taken from different manufacturers. The main requirement is the compliance of the technical parameters with the characteristics of the original generator. This type of restoration is the most economical, but it is a temporary measure.
