In case of loss or theft of a vehicle passport, it is necessary to restore it as soon as possible. It is important to understand that this document proves that the car belongs to you, and not to someone else, and if you do not have one, you may get in trouble.
Instructions
Step 1
Having found the loss of the PTS, contact the traffic police department in which the car was registered. If it happens that the car is not yet registered, and the passport has already been lost, you need to contact the last place of its registration. Take your passport, CTP policy, vehicle registration certificate with you. Please note: student ID, passport, driver's license and other documents in this case cannot be a substitute for a passport.
Step 2
Pay the state duty for the issuance of the TCP and take with you a receipt or a check confirming the fact of payment. This document will also need to be presented at the traffic police department to restore the vehicle's passport. If you drive a car under a general power of attorney, then, among other things, you will also have to present a power of attorney.
Step 3
Write a statement on the form "I ask you to issue a duplicate title to replace the lost one." Then, on a blank A4 sheet or a special form, write an explanatory letter addressed to the head of the traffic police department with a detailed description of the circumstances in which the vehicle passport was stolen or lost. Submit your application and explanatory note along with other documents.
Step 4
Present your vehicle for inspection. Be sure to keep government rooms clean and well visible. If the numbers get dirty, wash them. The traffic police officer will inspect your car, check the state numbers. If everything is in order, then your application will be accepted and after a while you will be given a new vehicle passport. The issuance period varies on average from 3 hours to 3 weeks.
Step 5
In the event that the traffic police refused to give you a new PTS, write a statement to your superiors indicating the illegal actions. Make sure your application is accepted and await a decision.
