The most dangerous confrontation on the road is a driver and a pedestrian. Moreover, both of them can change places and immediately forget the rules of not only traffic, but the rules of culture and respect for each other. And only on such conditions can road traffic become truly safe.

Unfortunately, the accident statistics are relentless: every fourth accident is a pedestrian collision. Why all measures at the level of raising fines, social advertising, raising the cultural level of people have not yet yielded positive dynamics? There are many questions, but while they are being resolved, people are dying. But there are also objective reasons why a pedestrian crossing can be life-threatening. And everyone who goes out on the road and gets behind the wheel should know them.

A classic example. A four-lane road with a zebra pattern. The pedestrian prepares to cross it, and the car on the far right stops to let him pass. A person goes out onto the road and already in 90% of cases does not look to the left and goes straight. It's good if you stop at the dividing strip to make sure that the oncoming flow also passes it. And what happens at this moment with the driver who is driving in the leftmost lane. He may not see the pedestrian, even if the car on the right brakes. And it turns out that a person walks under his wheels and his life depends on the speed of the driver's reaction and the serviceability of the car's brake system. And these are all very conventional values. When crossing a multi-lane road, a pedestrian must stop in front of each lane and make sure that the car also slows down or slows down.

An equally common mistake can be attributed to the transition of the road to a green traffic light for cars. But, as a rule, cars begin to move not only straight ahead, but also turn right or left. And at the moment of turning or a quick maneuver, the driver may simply not see a pedestrian who has fallen into the "blind" area of the front windshield pillar. And emergency braking at an intersection can lead to even more serious consequences. There are few cases when the driver lets a pedestrian pass and brakes sharply, provoking an accident. But all this can be avoided if you look around and still leave the priority of travel to the car. And the rules, by the way, say this - a pedestrian must cross the road only after the vehicle has passed or when it stops. And we must forget the postulate - the pedestrian is always right. You are responsible for your life yourself. And the driver does not bear any responsibility at all: a year in a colony-settlement or a suspended sentence is a small price for a human life.
Step 4
But even the most disciplined pedestrian can face the fact that many pedestrian crossings are made without observing safety standards. But the strictest standards are imposed on their operation. A correct pedestrian crossing must have not only readable markings, but also an installed road sign. In winter, the passage and the approaches to it must be cleared of snow and ice. The crossing must be illuminated in the dark or have a warning light signal. In real life: either a sign or a "zebra" cluttered with parked vehicles.

If every day you have to cross the road on such a dangerous crossing, do not expect tragedies. Write a letter outlining all the problems of this section (preferably with a photo) to the district council (city administration), the district traffic police department, the organization that serves this section of the road.
