Your car won't start? Can't you hear a buzzing sound in the rear seat area when turning the key in the ignition lock? Most likely, the fuel pump in your car is out of order. The following nuances can strengthen you in this assumption: if you often drive on an empty tank, do not monitor the condition of the fuel filter, refuel at dubious gas stations, then you yourself are making every effort to ensure that the gas pump breaks down as quickly as possible.

Necessary

  • - Phillips screwdriver;
  • - head for "10" with an extension;
  • - slotted screwdriver;
  • - a container with boiling water.

Instructions

Step 1

Relieve fuel pressure in the fuel supply system. To do this, in the passenger compartment, remove the right shield of the floor tunnel lining by unscrewing the self-tapping screw for the right shield of the floor tunnel lining with a Phillips screwdriver.

Step 2

Ignition OFF, remove the fuel pump fuse from the ECM fuse / relay box. Start the engine and let it idle until it runs out of fuel. Then turn on the starter for 2-3 seconds. The fuel system will then be depressurized.

Step 3

Disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the storage battery. In the passenger compartment, raise the rear seat cushion and fold back the soundproofing valve that covers the floor hatch under the rear seat.

Step 4

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two self-tapping screws for the hatch cover and remove the cover. Lift up the harness connector and disconnect the wires from the fuel module cover connector.

Step 5

While pressing in on the retainers, disconnect the tee tip and the fuel delivery tube tip from the fuel module cover fitting.

Using the “10” head with an extension, unscrew the 8 nuts securing the pressure plate of the fuel module. Remove the spring washers and the "ground" wire from the studs of the filler neck. Remove the pressure plate.

Step 6

Carefully, taking care not to damage the float of the fuel level indicator sensor, remove the fuel module from the tank. Drain the remaining fuel in the fuel module into a previously prepared container. Close the opening in the fuel tank to prevent foreign objects from entering.

Step 7

From the inside of the fuel module cover, use a slotted screwdriver to pry the retaining plate of the common wiring block and disconnect the wiring block from the cover connector. Pressing the latch, disconnect the wires from the fuel pump.

Step 8

Press the two retainers of the fuel level indicator sensor and slide the sensor along the grooves in the fuel module housing towards the cover. Remove the fuel level indicator sensor.

Use a slotted screwdriver to pry the drain pipe and disconnect it from the fuel module housing. A retaining ring is located in the groove of one of the guide posts of the module cover. Remove it by prying it with a slotted screwdriver blade.

Step 9

Pressing the four locks of the fuel pump holder, remove the fuel module cover assembly with the holder and the fuel pump. Remove the spring from the cover post guide.

Step 10

Pry off with a slotted screwdriver and remove the mesh filter. Remove the lock washer from the slot in the strainer housing. Using a slotted screwdriver, squeeze the plastic latch of the holder and push the gas pump out of the holder with your finger.

Step 11

Heat the plastic corrugated tube on the gas pump nozzle over a container of boiling water and remove the tube from the gas pump nozzle. Assemble and install the fuel module with a new fuel pump in reverse order.
