The color of the car is one of the parameters that you just need to know, because in the event of an accident, picking up paint by eye to paint the damaged area will not only be difficult, but almost impossible, since each manufacturer has its own shades. The type of paint is usually determined using the color scheme in the workshop, but you can do this yourself using the vin code.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the hood of your car and, facing the car, find the engine. Look to the right: is there a special information sticker? If you have purchased a modern new car or one that has not yet been overhauled, under the hood of the iron horse you can find a special information sheet glued by the manufacturer with a clear indication of the car brand and the color of its body coating.
Step 2
Open the driver's door if no sticker was found under the hood. Examine the door pillar at the bottom, closer to the floor. Some manufacturers prefer to place informational stickers not under the hood, but on the door.
Step 3
Look at the vin code of the paint. In either case, the color shade will be indicated by the code. Make a note of the factory color number (vin code).
Step 4
Contact the car service to the painter, providing him with the found vin-code. The painter, using a special computer program, having entered your paint code, will be able to easily choose exactly the shade that your body was originally painted with. However, do not forget that over time, any paint will fade and, perhaps, the original tone will already be distinguishable from that which is now on the car.
Step 5
Another way to determine the tone of the paint by the vin code is to contact an authorized dealer, providing him with the make of the car and the corresponding code. After a fairly short period of time, employees of any car company will be able to provide you with comprehensive information about the car and its color. At the same time, it is important to know that you can contact the dealers, both by coming in person to the office where the car was purchased, and by contacting the company representatives by phone or e-mail. With the data received, you can safely go to a car service and ask that your car be painted exactly in the tone indicated by the manufacturer.
