It is necessary

  • - screwdrivers;
  • - nippers;
  • - insulating tape;
  • - sound probe.

Instructions

Step 1

Before installation, carefully study the connection diagram of the car radio.

Step 2

Disassemble the center console of the dashboard, and then use a screwdriver to unscrew the mounting bolts and pull out the head unit. Be sure to remove the fasteners from it - you will need them to install a new car radio. When disassembling the console, try to locate the mounting bolts so as not to accidentally break the plastic panel. Usually there are not many of them, tk. In Japanese cars, the plastic parts of the dashboard are secured primarily with plastic clips.

Step 3

Make or purchase a plug if necessary. In most cases, the size of the installed head unit is 2 DIN or 10x18cm, and the overwhelming majority of European type radio tape recorders are produced in the size of 1DIN or 5x18cm. In this case, you will need a plug to close the hole. You can make the plug yourself by cutting out a plate of the appropriate size from any metal 1mm thick. It can be painted with black matte paint and glued to the center console frame so that the installed radio tape recorder fits in the remaining window. You can go the other way and buy a plastic shelf-type plug. It is attached to standard fasteners using self-tapping screws.

Step 4

Connect the electrical connector of the new radio to the car wiring harness. Find a permanent plus, plus from turning on the ignition switch and from dimensions. Mark them or draw a color scheme for the wire assignments on paper. Finding wires with constant voltage is easiest with a lamp from dimensions. Connect one electrode of the lamp to the body of the machine, and with the other, touching the veins of the wire under study according to the state of the lamp (lit - not lit), find a wire with voltage. When you find out the purpose of the supply wires, connect them to the corresponding wires of the radio connector. Then find the speaker wires. It is best to look for them with an ohmmeter and a sound probe. Do not apply 12 volts to them to avoid damaging the speakers. Be sure to make all the wires the same length - this will improve the quality of the installation and facilitate future maintenance work on the radio.

Step 5

Install the standard fasteners on the new car radio. Be guided by the guides on the radio case. In rare cases, the radio tape recorder must be pushed forward a little. Attach the shelf plug to the same fasteners if you decide to use it.

Step 6

Connect the electrical connector to the radio, also connect the antenna wire and USB cable, if supplied.

Step 7

Insert the connected radio tape recorder with fasteners into its seat and secure with the bolts that secured the head unit.

Step 8

Turn on the ignition switch to the ACC position and check the radio tape recorder for operation.

Step 9

Assemble the center console of the instrument panel.
