What is multilock
The word "multilock" comes from the name of a large Israeli company Mul-T-Lock, which produces high-quality high-security locks. Now this concept includes a number of anti-theft mechanisms produced by various companies.
The first locking mechanisms were locks attached to a bracket, while the gearbox handle was fixed with a V-shaped bracket. Later, universal pin blockers appeared.
Now several types of multilocks have been developed, installed on gearboxes, steering columns and bonnet locks. All of them are effective means of protection against theft and are installed discreetly, without damaging the interior of the car.
Multilok at checkpoint
Transmission multilocks can be divided into two subgroups: pin and pinless. In the pin multilock, the pin locks the gearshift lever in the reverse position, in the automatic transmission - in the parking position. A lock cylinder and an inlet for the pin are installed on the console. The blocker is locked by pressing the pin, unlocking - by turning the key 55 degrees and releasing the pin.
The pinless blocker device makes it easier and more convenient to use. In this case, the pin is built into the mechanism system; when the key is turned, it locks the lever. Such locks are developed individually for each car brand and are suitable for both manual and automatic transmissions.
Multi-lock on the steering wheel
The most common anti-theft agent is a multi-lock steering wheel. It is installed under the console of the vehicle. The lock locks the steering shaft together with the factory anti-theft mechanism, preventing theft. Spontaneous blocking of the lock during movement is excluded.
Lock under the hood
Installing a multilock in this case blocks the standard hood lock, while preventing intruders from entering the engine compartment and disabling the car alarm. The lock is locked by simply pressing the multi-lock button while the hood is closed. The mechanism can be unlocked only with a key, for this you need to turn the lock cylinder and pull it towards you. Then the hood opens in the usual way, using the handle installed in the car.
Advantages of multilocks
Today there are a large number of anti-theft systems, but none of them provide 100% protection. Therefore, the most reliable is the simultaneous use of electronic and mechanical anti-theft systems. Multilocks also belong to such mechanical protections.
The multilocks are equipped with high security locks made of durable steel. It is almost impossible to drill or open such a lock with a master key. Having installed a multilock on your car, you will always be calm about the safety of your car.
