Grips are grips that are placed on a bicycle or scooter handlebar. These handles can be different: rubber, foam, with special inserts for the fingers. Usually bicycle handlebars are equipped with grips, but during operation they tear, scratch, become uncomfortable. Sometimes it becomes necessary to replace them.
Instructions
Step 1
Modern grips can be fitted with special grips. Unscrew these clamps and tighten the structure. And if there are no clamps, take a screwdriver, pry it off the grip and use a syringe to inject some water inside. If the grip is not very dense and stiff, then you can simply pierce it with a syringe and a needle and pour water into it. The handle should be very easy to remove.
Step 2
If the grips to be removed are too hard, place a pan of hot water under them, the steam will soften the rubber, and you will either pull off the handles yourself, or you will be able to pierce them with a syringe and inject some water. Do not use an open flame to heat it up, as this will damage the product.
Step 3
You can use some kind of lubricant, for example, lithol. Lubricate the base of the handle and try to twist it in place so that the lithol gets underneath it. Then, slowly rotating, pull the grip off. This method has a significant drawback: there is no guarantee that the grips will not come off after being installed in place, so either use a small amount of grease, or attach the grips, remove, wipe the inside with a lint-free cloth to remove excess grease, and put it back on.
Step 4
To put on new grips, moisten the inside with rubbing alcohol and put on. The alcohol will quickly evaporate and, unlike water, will not corrode the metal, which subsequently usually causes the base of the handle to break.
Step 5
There are very thin grips that just twist while riding. In this case, they must be removed as described above and the steering wheel and grips must be cleaned of dust and dirt. A rubber band can be used to seal the handle fit to hold the piece in place.
