Glow plugs are designed for use in diesel engines and differ from spark plugs in that they have no spark. They are a heating element capable of heating up to 1000 degrees. Replacing glow plugs is easy.
It is necessary
wrenches, gloves
Instructions
Step 1
Stop the engine to replace the glow plugs. Open the hood and wait for the engine to cool down.
Step 2
Put on gloves and remove the shroud and insulation, if present on the engine. Disconnect the negative from the battery.
Step 3
Take a look at the engine. The glow plugs must be fitted with thick high-voltage wires, one for each, and the plugs themselves are screwed into the engine housing.
Step 4
Unscrew the high-voltage wire from the spark plug or pull it off. Depends on the car model.
Step 5
Unscrew the spark plug with a spanner or pipe wrench of a suitable size.
Step 6
Screw the new glow plug in place of the old one. It is necessary to twist until it stops with light pressure, without overtightening the thread.
Step 7
Screw the high-voltage wire back onto the candle or put on the cap. The wire cap must completely cover the spark plug contact.
Step 8
Try to pull the wire back and forth with a gentle movement. The wire should not fidget on the candle.
Step 9
After replacing all the spark plugs, connect the negative lead back to the battery and start the engine. It should run smoothly, as it should be for a serviceable unit.
Step 10
If everything is in order, then put back the heat insulation and the engine cover, if any, close the hood and reassemble the tool. All is ready.
