Ferrari team leader Maurizio Arrivabene again received the Golden Tapir award from the Italian program "Striscia la Notizia". However, this time the prize was awarded at the end of the year. The Golden Tapir Prize is a satirical award that is awarded every week and at the end of the year by the program "Striscia la Notizia" for outstanding misconduct in a particular area.
In 2017, the Ferrari team received the Golden Tapir anti-award after an incident at the Japanese Grand Prix in which team driver Sebastian Vettel had engine problems due to spark plug failure. Then, along with the golden statuette, Arrivabene also received a candle.
In the same year, Scuderia was nominated for the year, although it did not receive the largest tapir.
The host of the program "Striscia la Notizia" Valerio Staffelli specially came to Maranello, where he briefly explained why the prize had come to Ferrari.
Staffelli immediately started asking provocative questions: "Vettel said:" We thought we had a championship car, but we never got it. " But what did you have?"
To which Arrivabene replied: “We started this year well. We thought we could match Mercedes, but alas, they overtook us at the end of the season."
However, the journalist did not abandon his attempts to joke: "Maybe you put the Punto engine under the hood?"
To which Arrivabene said: “No, the engine was running - and it was always driving. We were able to get some good results, but certain things were nowhere near that good because we really wanted Tapir."
After that, Staffelli concluded the interview with a joke: "We hope that next year Ferrari will not qualify for Tapir."
