Instructions
Step 1
If you bought a new car and want to transfer old license plates to it, contact the head of the traffic police with a statement. In the application, indicate: "I ask you to keep my old license plates and register a new car with the same license plates."
Step 2
The issuance of state registration numbers is regulated by the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs No. 59 dated January 27, 2003. When submitting an application, you need to remove the license plates from the old car and present them to the traffic police.
Step 3
You can keep the state registration plates only if they are in perfect condition and comply with GOST No. 50577-02. At the same time, do not forget that the law does not oblige the traffic police to leave behind the owner of the license plate, but they can be left to you if the head of the traffic police puts his resolution under your application, the license plates are not crumpled, the paint is not erased.
Step 4
If you were allowed to retain state registration numbers and transfer them to a new car, you must remove the old car from the register, register the new car and receive your own numbers after registration. License plates will be stored in the traffic police for 30 days.
Step 5
To remove an old car from the register and put a new car on registration, you must submit to the traffic police an application, an identity document, an OSAGO policy, a driver's license, a PTS, a certificate of state registration. Both cars - old and new - must be inspected by an authorized traffic police inspector, so you need to bring two cars to the traffic police.
Step 6
Based on the submitted documents, your old car will be removed from the registration register, and the new one will be registered, after which you will receive your license plates.
Step 7
If the old license plates do not comply with GOST, then, unfortunately, you will not be able to transfer them to a new car. Upon registration, you will receive new license plates.
