The transfer of the electronic control unit allows you to protect it from failure as a result of various factors. To move the unit, you need to make new holes for the fasteners and install an attachment bracket on them.
The design of some car models differs in an unsuitable location for the electronic control unit. During the operation of the vehicle, situations may arise when the peculiarities of the location of the unit may cause its failure. Damage to the unit can occur as a result of oil or antifreeze leakage, heating from a nearby stove, or for other reasons.
Work order
The transfer of the electronic unit allows you to protect it from the negative influence of external factors and improve the performance of the machine. Work on the transfer of the electronic vehicle control unit includes the following steps:
1. Dismantle the elements of the car's interior design, blocking access to the electronic unit. The dismantling technology for a specific car model is given in the operating documentation.
2. Remove the control unit by unscrewing the fasteners with a screwdriver. If the unit is covered with a cover, it must be removed before dismantling.
3. Remove the control unit mounting bracket.
4. Make holes for fixing the connecting bracket in the new location of the control unit. Screw the bracket to the car body using self-tapping screws and a screwdriver.
5. Install the control unit on the previously attached bracket. Connect the power and control wires to the unit, then insulate them.
Features of the transfer of electronic components
In some situations, moving the electronic control unit may require lengthening the wires. In this case, it is necessary to completely replace the cascade of wires, or use the services of a professional auto electrician. Self-soldering for the purpose of lengthening is possible only if the car owner has experience in performing these works.
When choosing a place for transfer, the car owner needs to carefully analyze the possible options for placing the unit for protection from external factors and ease of maintenance of the unit. It is desirable that the list of work on the transfer of the unit assumes minimal interference in the structure of the car.
When installing the control unit inside the car, it is recommended to install a protective plastic case, which will protect the equipment from accidental mechanical damage. Sealing the unit is strictly prohibited, as it can cause condensation to form on its inner surface.
