Step 1
Before buying a car, call the MREO of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, serving your address of residence or stay, and make an appointment at any convenient for you and while unoccupied time. You can also do this via the Internet on the website of the traffic police department in your region. There you can also find information about which MREO serves your address, and its coordinates.
Step 2
Receipts and an application form for registration, which previously could be obtained only with a personal visit to the MREO, are now easy to download on the official website of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. There is also information about the current amount of state fees. As of 2011, they were equal to: 300 rubles. for vehicle registration, 1, 5 thousand rubles. for issuing license plates for cars and buses and 1 thousand rubles. - for motorcycles and trailers, 200 r. for making changes to the registration certificate and the same amount for the temporary registration of a car or trailer at the owner's place of residence. Step 3
At the reception at the MREO, they will want to see a passport, documents confirming a certificate of ownership of the car (a package of papers from a car dealership, a sale and purchase agreement, a donation, etc. as appropriate), receipts for payment of the necessary state duties, a registration certificate for a car and a policy of compulsory motor third party liability. If the owner was given transit numbers, they will have to be presented and the car registered before they expire.
Step 4
The registered car must also be inspected. Check the possibility of a technical inspection before an appointment on registration in your MREO. If this procedure has already taken place, you present an inspection certificate. If not yet, you bring the car itself to the inspection site, and it is checked on the same day.
On examination, they will pay attention to everything. Not only the technical condition and serviceability of the key elements of the device, but also the presence of everything that is provided for by the rules: first-aid kit, emergency stop sign, fire extinguisher. If everything is in order with the car and documents, you will be given a license plate, and you can drive safely.
