Antifreeze is a liquid used to cool an internal combustion engine, thereby prolonging its performance. But for this, the antifreeze must be updated in a timely manner, since a drop in the level of anti-corrosion additives contained in this fluid contributes to the weakening of protection, as a result of which the engine, together with the radiator, begins to corrode. To prevent this from happening, every motorist should know where to fill the antifreeze.
Instructions
Step 1
Antifreeze can be poured into a car radiator or a tank specially designed for this purpose. For example, on a VAZ-2109 and 2108 car, the expansion tank, where you need to fill in coolant, is located under the hood near the battery. To be more precise, you need to look for it in the engine compartment.
Step 2
When pouring antifreeze, make sure that it rises to the highest possible level. In addition, it is necessary to regularly check the remaining volume of coolant in the reservoir.
Step 3
Before pouring it into the expansion tank or radiator, the remnants of the old fluid are drained from them, and only after that a new one is poured. This must be done carefully and very carefully. When filling with coolant, from time to time close the cap of the radiator or expansion barrel, gently massaging the upper radiator pipe, thanks to this, you will be able to displace the remaining air from the system.
Step 4
The expansion tank for the coolant is not located under the hood in all car brands. For example, in a VAZ 2107, it can be found right under the driver's seat, namely on the left side of the engine compartment. You can find out about the location of the expansion tank in your vehicle in the instructions that each vehicle should have.
Step 5
Having decided on where you will pour the antifreeze, you will need to learn how to assess the condition of the old coolant before replacing it. This can be done by eye or using a hydrometer. In addition, it is very important to know which brand of antifreeze is suitable for your car.
