According to statistical studies, 10% of the total number of accidents in the winter season are caused by icing of the windows on a car leaving the parking lot. Many methods have been invented and tried many times to remove ice from car windows.
Instructions
Step 1
The most common way is to mechanically remove ice from the glass surface using a hard plastic scraper. Use a scraper carefully to avoid scratching the glass. Bend back the windscreen wipers when cleaning.
Step 2
Among the numerous liquids used to remove ice from glass, the "Auto defroster" in an aerosol can is often used. Spray it on the surface of the ice-covered glass. After a while, the ice can be easily removed even without the use of scrapers.
Step 3
In addition to the "Auto-defroster", you can use any antifreeze liquid or alcohol. Moisten the glass with it. Alcohol will start to react with ice and after a while a slurry of water, ice and alcohol will remain on the glass. Remove the gruel with a rag. If you keep a sufficiently concentrated antifreeze liquid in the washer reservoir, you just have to spray it on the windshield with a washer and after a while remove the remnants of the gruel with the wipers.
Step 4
You can wipe the ice off the glass with a sodium chloride solution. Instead of salt, you can use alum or calcium chloride. Dissolve two tablespoons in a glass of water. Moisten a soft brush or sponge with the solution and wipe the glass until the frost or ice disappears. After this procedure, be sure to wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth.
Step 5
If the glass is frozen on the inside of the passenger compartment, it is not recommended to wipe it off. After wiping, there will be stains, which will be very problematic to remove. Turn on the blower of the heater at full power and wait until the ice melts into the water and the water evaporates. To prevent such freezing, thoroughly ventilate the passenger compartment before parking.
Step 6
To protect the glass from freezing at the dawn of motoring, when there were no glass heating devices yet, the glass surface was rubbed with ordinary table salt. To do this, they specially took a bag of salt with them. This method can help out if the glass blowing unexpectedly breaks down on the road.
