Not all car owners repair their cars in services - the pleasure is not cheap, and it can be useful to understand the device of the iron horse yourself. Perhaps the most common self-manipulation is ignition adjustment.

Instructions

Step 1

Make the so-called marks. To do this, turn the engine by the crankshaft pulley using the starting handle. If it is absent, put an overdrive and push the car forward. When performing this procedure, make sure that the marks on the pin installed on the engine block and the crankshaft pulley match.

Step 2

After you make sure that the marks have been set correctly, remove the ignition distributor cover. Here is one very important point: you need to remember the position of the slider. To be more precise, which cylinder is the slider's spacer plate directed to. And only after that you can safely remove the distributor.

Step 3

After the distributor is removed, the crankshaft should never be rotated. Otherwise, all previously set marks will be knocked down, and all the work done will have to be started anew.

Step 4

A few words about the features of installing a distributor on various car brands. So, for example, in the VAZ family, immediately before installation, a slider should be set on the first cylinder of the engine. On foreign cars, there is usually already a risk on the valve housing. As for the Volga, at the end of the "tail" of the ignition distributor there is a sector where you can see two different "crescents" - long and short. The same sector is present in the distributor drive. In the motor drive in the direction of the small "crescent", set the distributor in the same direction.

Step 5

After that, install the distributor itself in the engine and check the compatibility of the labels. To this end, crank the engine two turns. If the marks then match, you can safely fix everything and start the engine. But before that, be sure to make sure that the high voltage distributor wires to the spark plugs have been installed correctly.
