Step 1
Prepare your car for traveling on ice. Check that the machine is in good working order. Fit suitable tires on the wheels to prevent slipping on ice-covered roads.
Step 2
Observe the speed limit. Take your time to get to your destination as soon as possible, do not overtake other cars and slow down when cornering. On dangerous roads, those drivers who adhere to the recommended speed are less affected. Moving slowly on a slippery road, you can brake in time and avoid a life-threatening accident.
Step 3
Keep your distance. The distance between cars on ice should be equal to twice the speed of movement. For example, if your speed is 20 km / h, the distance to the vehicle in front is 40 m.
Step 4
Learn to feel your car. Evaluate how quickly the car slows down, how much it turns it, how it reacts to your actions.
Step 5
Learn to brake properly on ice. Some people, when in an emergency, reflexively press the brake pedal all the way. But this leads to the fact that the car starts to skid and it loses control. On ice, do not press the brake pedal into the floor, but briefly press it several times until the car comes to a complete stop. Do not press hard and not too long. Or gently remove your foot from the gas pedal and shift to a lower gear, then the car will start to brake.
Step 6
Turn smoothly without making any sudden movements. Assess the steepness of the bend and the presence of slippery spots in advance. Drive slowly, building up your speed little by little. Try to get excess traction, but do not miss the moment when the wheels of the drive axle begin to "float" out of the corner. Then roll the speed mode back a little and remember this speed - it will be safe for turns. It is very important to choose a suitable trajectory - move from the outer edge of the row at the beginning to the inner one at the end.
Step 7
Develop attentiveness and learn how to respond to emergencies in time. In these moments, every second counts, so make your decisions quickly and clearly. Do not be distracted by extraneous activities while you are driving.
