Which vehicles should be equipped with a tachograph
According to Russian legislation, tachographs must be equipped for intercity transportation cargo vehicles with a gross weight of 3.5 tons, buses with more than 8 seats, as well as vehicles that transport dangerous goods. For non-use of the tachograph on vehicles of the above categories, as well as interference with its work, a fine is foreseen.
Vehicles registered on the territory of Russia must be fitted with tachographs of those models that are included in the Rosavtotrans register, which is reflected in the corresponding order of the Ministry of Transport. Cars registered in Europe must be equipped with tachographs, the models of which have a certificate of conformity and are entered in the pan-European register, about which there must be a mark on the device itself indicating the certificate number.

Modern digital tachographs have a high degree of protection against unauthorized access, as well as changes in information. They are also equipped with a non-volatile memory card. Some tachographs can receive data from the GLONASS or GPS positioning system. A feature of Russian-made tachographs is the ability to withstand lower temperatures compared to European-made models.
