Instructions
Step 1
To coat car parts with carbon, use a special kit that includes Twill carbon fabric, epoxy base and topcoat with hardener, polishing compound, sanding paper and paint brushes.
Step 2
Before getting started, prepare your workplace. Cover it with plastic wrap or unnecessary cloth. The element intended for gluing, clean from dirt, rinse thoroughly. After complete drying, degrease it with a solution of white spirit.
Step 3
To increase adhesion and more secure adhesion of the resin, sand the part with coarse sandpaper. Then rinse it with water to remove dust completely. Protect areas that should not be covered with carbon with masking tape.
Step 4
Take the cup included in the kit and dilute the base coat resin exactly as directed. Measure the required amount of substance using a scale. The finished mixture will acquire a black layer. This feature allows you to apply carbon to any color of the car part without fear that it will show through the fabric.
Step 5
Use the supplied brush to apply resin to the part. Make sure that it covers every millimeter of the area intended for gluing carbon. Leave the part to dry for four hours. The dried surface should feel slightly sticky to the touch.
Step 6
After the base coat has dried, apply the carbon. Cut a piece that can cover the entire required area on the part. Attach the cut to the center of the workpiece and begin, pressing down, smooth it towards the edges.
Step 7
Since the base coat has not hardened and the surface remains tacky, the carbon will not come off the part. Smooth the fabric thoroughly to avoid wrinkling or wrinkling. Due to the fact that carbon with twill weave perfectly takes any shape, you can process any complex detail with it.
Step 8
Dilute the topcoat resin in another cup. Apply it with a brush over the carbon fiber and leave to dry. Try to add the optimal amount of resin so that it covers all the carbon and does not drip away, creating smudges and drops. After 2 - 3 hours, cover the part with another decorative layer. Leave on for 8 hours until completely dry.
Step 9
After the finish coat has hardened, start sanding to achieve a perfect surface smoothness. Begin to carefully process the part with sandpaper # 240. Then, in order, use all the skins included in the set. For the most effective procedure, wet the abrasives with water.
Step 10
Finish with a polish and a soft, non-woven cloth to shine it.
