According to its technology, car wrapping with film can be "dry" and "wet". The first method is more suitable for professionals. For those who are doing this for the first time, it is better to use the "wet" method. When applying it, an emulsion is applied to the car, prepared from water and some kind of detergent - for the convenience of laying the film.
It is necessary
- - vinyl film;
- - stationery knife;
- - plastic or rubber spatula (squeegee);
- - felt spatula;
- - industrial or amateur hair dryer;
- - a spray bottle filled with water and detergent (Fery, soap, etc.) in a ratio of 10: 1;
- - rags;
- - masking tape.
Instructions
Step 1
Wash the vehicle thoroughly. Clean its surface from any dirt. The quality of pasting depends on the cleanliness of the surface; the body must be absolutely clean. If there are traces of oil or grease on it, clean it with a mild solution of a degreasing agent (white spirit, etc.).
Step 2
Try on the film, along with the backing and mounting tape, to the area to be pasted over. The film can be glued to the entire car at once, but it is more convenient to glue it in separate pieces - on the doors, hood, trunk, etc. Carefully cut the film around the perimeter of the area with a clerical knife, passing the knife through the gap between areas - for example, between the door and the body. If the zones are not delimited by a joint, use masking tape as marks delimiting the zones, sticking it on the body.
Step 3
Place the cut film face down on a flat, clean surface and gently peel off the backing paper. Make sure that the folds of the film do not stick together. It is difficult for one to do this work, it is necessary that there be an assistant.
Step 4
Spray the area of the car with a sprayer with a water-soap emulsion. In doing so, cover the entire surface, without gaps. It is better to apply excess solution than to leave any areas dry. The emulsion is needed to prevent premature adhesion of the film to the car during installation.
Step 5
Lay the film over the area so that it is in its exact position. When adjusting, move it in the right directions, the water-soap emulsion will allow you to do this without difficulty.
Step 6
Start smoothing the film with a rubber trowel, starting from the center and working towards the edges. At the same time, heat the film with a hair dryer - very carefully so as not to melt it. Skip any irregularities (handles, moldings, etc.) without finishing them to the end. Their turn will come later.
Step 7
Roll the center zone first, leaving the edges unrolled. If folds have formed at the transition points of the planes, separate the film from the body and heat it, the fold should disappear. After smoothing out the center zone, roll in any bumps you missed during the initial decal. Use a hair dryer actively to warm up and stretch the film in difficult places.
Step 8
After all of the film is glued on, take a felt squeegee and use it to expel air and soap bubbles from the center to the edges. If there are bubbles that cannot be driven out, warm them up with a hairdryer and pierce them. The smallest bubbles disappear on their own after 1-2 weeks.
Step 9
After completing work with the central zone, roll the edges of the film, trimming off the excess. Wipe the covered area with a dry cloth and leave the car for a day - to "set" the film. Do not wash it for one week.
