Snow chains are relevant for the drivers of our country, especially for those who live in the northern regions. They are popular with those car owners who like to get out in their cars for nature: hunting or fishing. It will not do without chains if you decide to make "rides" on the off-road or even virgin soil.

Instructions

Step 1

Snow chains transform ordinary road tires into off-road tires. You can make snow chains yourself. Before you start manufacturing, you should know that this requires a chain welded from reinforced wire. Its length must be sufficient - after all, the snow chain must braid the entire wheel around the perimeter. Also, its length depends on the pattern that you have chosen.

Step 2

There are several already tested and proven execution options - these are "rhombus", "ladder", "honeycomb". To find a chain for making, all you have to do is go to the market. When buying, you should take into account that the joint at the chain links should not be welded, but welded.

Step 3

The easiest way to make snow chains yourself is in the form of a "ladder". To do this, you will need a chain with a rod diameter of 4-5 m - about 15 meters, 32 pieces of hooks and two tensioners. You will also need a grinder and a vice.

Step 4

Cut four pieces of chain with 83 links each. These will be the longitudinal chains of your design. Also cut cross chains - 16 pieces with 13 links each.

Step 5

Assemble the ladder by evenly distributing the longitudinal chains. Start attaching the first one on the 6th link, the next ones - on every 10th, the last - on the 12th. Attach with hooks while tensioning the chain with tensioners.

Step 6

The chains are mounted on the drive wheels of the vehicle. This is done with or without a jack.
