A car equipped with snow chains will become much more passable: you can easily drive on a dirt road after rain or on freshly fallen snow. If you have already chosen and bought chains for your car, all you have to do is put them on the wheels.

It is necessary

  • - anti-skid chains;
  • - car;
  • - flat place;
  • - wire;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - a four- or hexagon key (depending on the design of the lock).

Instructions

Step 1

If the dirt road is far away and you have a rather long way to go along a flat asphalt road, do not rush to put on chains, since the recommended speed with them is no more than 50 km / h. Only when you reach the exit point on a bad road, find a flat area, stop and start installing the chains on the wheels.

Step 2

Spread the chains in front of the wheels so that the locking links are on the outside. It is more convenient to install chains on both wheels of one axle at once - for example, first "shoe" the front wheels, and then the rear ones

Step 3

Examine the entire surface of the chain for any twisted links. If you find a kink, remove it by passing part of the chain through the hole between the jumpers.

Step 4

Drive on the chain carefully, stopping 30-50 cm from the edge. Throw most of the chain bar over the wheel, hook the hook located on the inner longitudinal chain over the outermost link of the other end.

Step 5

Distribute the jumpers evenly over the entire wheel, and for VLI-5 tires, spread them so that they are between the tread teeth.

Step 6

Hook the latching hook onto the outer longitudinal chain, for now. To do this, insert the last link of the other end into the narrow slot of the hook and flip the hook while pulling the chain as much as possible. At the same time, insert the back of the hook into the last ring

Step 7

Adjust the jumpers again and secure the lock by sliding the hook ring between the tire and the chain and pushing the end into the chain link.

Step 8

If the chain is not tight enough, try unhooking the hook again and attaching it to the second or even third link. It is best to drive a few kilometers so that the chain settles down and again try to tighten it, in which case it is possible to achieve the maximum tension.

Step 9

Additionally, to be completely sure that the lock will not open, wrap it with wire. This is especially true for snow chains with an S-shaped lock (which is fastened with a hex or square key), as they can disengage when hitting an obstacle.
