Changing the oil in a car is one of the elements of mandatory periodic maintenance. As a rule, car owners carry out an oil change on their own, unless the car is included in the warranty service.

Step 1
Depending on the type and model of the engine, the frequency of changing the oil and oil filter can vary from 10 to 40 thousand kilometers. Replacement is much more convenient if you have a viewing hole or lift. It is also desirable to have good lighting and an assistant. Before starting work, put the car on the handbrake, raise the hood and remove the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
Step 2
First of all, you need to remove the decorative engine cover and remove any dirt in the area of the filler neck. Unscrew the plug and put it in a clean place. After the container for draining the working off and the wrench of the desired size are prepared, you can lower it under the bottom of the car.
Step 3
Find the drain plug. It is a thickly threaded bolt located at the bottom of the crankshaft housing. The exact position of the drain plug can be clarified in the car service manual. The plug must be torn off with a wrench and rotated several times in both directions until you can twist it with just your fingers. Next, you need to substitute a container for 4-5 liters under the drain hole and unscrew the plug completely. The oil will drain for about ten minutes.
Step 4
From time to time it is required to flush the engine from accumulated soot and microscopic shavings. For flushing, special fluids are used, which are poured into an empty engine instead of engine oil and run it to idle for 3-5 minutes. Before using the flushing fluid, screw the drain plug and close the filler neck.
Step 5
After draining the mining, you need to fill in fresh oil. The drain plug is twisted, a funnel is installed in the neck and the engine is filled with oil to the desired level. Fresh oil is recommended to stand for 15 minutes before starting the engine for the first time. It is also recommended to hold the switched on engine at idle speed for 10-15 minutes.
Step 6
In the box, oil or ATF, as a rule, do not change. The service life of fluids is comparable to the service life of a mechanical unit, and therefore it is quite simple to control the lubricant level. On the other hand, experienced motorists recommend changing the oil in the box and the rear axle gearbox every 60 thousand kilometers. If there is a need for replacement, it should be carried out by analogy with changing the oil in the engine: drain the oil through the drain plug and fill in new oil using a special syringe.
