There is no direct ban on the installation of xenon in the Russian Federation. There are rules by adhering to which, drivers can legally use the lighting equipment they love so much.
Instructions
Step 1
The installation of xenon or bi-xenon lamps is a fashionable trend in recent years. For owners of cars equipped with such equipment initially from the factory, there are no problems. They may appear in those who decided to replace their "native" lamps with attractive xenon lamps.
Step 2
Why is the use of xenon restricted by law?
Firstly, such headlights shine so brightly that they can blind the driver of an oncoming vehicle. And this is fraught with an emergency. Secondly, negligent car owners in most cases install only xenon or bi-xenon lamps, forgetting that they need a special headlight that sufficiently scatters a beam of bright light. Thirdly, the installation of lighting equipment is often carried out by drivers independently and often contrary to the rules of such work.
Step 3
What kind of xenon can be installed?
You should be aware that the law does not explicitly prohibit the installation of lamps and headlights of this type. There are no definitions for "xenon lamps" or "xenon headlights". In order to find out whether the installation of new lighting equipment is allowed, you need to find out the marking of the already installed one. The fact is that there are several types of headlights and lamps, including xenon ones. If, upon inspection, it is found that the brand of lighting equipment with which the car is equipped does not meet the requirements for the safety of vehicles, sanctions will be applied to the driver, up to and including the prohibition of operating the car.
Step 4
The type of lamp must correspond to the type of headlight, and the issue of installing xenon must be settled in the traffic police. This will help avoid liability under Part 3 of Art. 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, which provides for punishment for the installation of equipment that does not meet the requirements of the norms for the admission of vehicles to operation. The driver needs to be aware that type C, R, CR headlights must be equipped with conventional incandescent bulbs. For types HR, HC, HCR halogen are allowed, for DR, DC, DCR - with a gas-discharge light source (xenon).
Step 5
How to install xenon legally?
In order to avoid misunderstandings when the inspector inspects the lighting equipment of the car, it is required to equip it with an automatic tilt adjuster and headlight washer system. All changes to this plan must be registered with the local traffic police department. Needless to say, the type of headlamp and lamp must comply with legal requirements.
