Why do you need an electronic gas pedal?

Initially, Bosch wanted to reduce emissions and fuel consumption when developing and implementing the electronic accelerator pedal. Maseratty, Porsche and Mercedes have long picked up a new trend and began to produce already modernized cars, abandoning the mechanical throttle pedal.

What is the difference between electronic and mechanical pedals?

The mechanical pedal opens the throttle by a degree equal to the degree of pressing the accelerator pedal, thereby allowing the combustible mixture to enter the combustion cylinders.

The electronic gas pedal follows the same pattern, but in a slightly different way. When the pedal is pressed, the sensors transmit a signal about the angle of depression to the engine control unit. Based on this data, a smart car understands how quickly the driver wants to start from a standstill, or how much he is going to accelerate, and independently decides whether it is worth reckless for its owner today. But that's bad luck! For a Russian person accustomed to getting under way with a noise, squeal of tires and a sharp jolt, such a system that spares the environment and fuel turned out to be unusual.

With the electronic gas pedal, car engines have also added the ability to make decisions independently, without the participation of the driver. So, if the car realizes that it is necessary to change the torque in order to save fuel or ensure safety, the control unit will simply change the position of the throttle.

Also, the electric throttle will carefully raise the speed when an additional load on the engine appears. For example, if you turned on the air conditioner, opened the window, or decided to use all the electronics installed in the car, at the same time, the revs on the tachometer will immediately let you know that the smart car has increased the torque.

We can safely say that the electronic accelerator pedal has a place to be only in a compartment with all other electronics: ABS, cruise control, air conditioning and so on. One electronics protects from drifts, the other from the heat, and the third from quick starts and pollution of the environment, plus it allows the engine to work more economically, given how many different functions it supports and feeds in a modern car. Plus, the electronic pedal, unlike the mechanical one, practically does not need repair and replacement. Here the cable will not fray, break or fail at speed.

Recently, Russian craftsmen began to come up with all sorts of devices in order to deceive electronics and get under way with a squeal and roar. There are devices that make the electric throttle believe that the driver did not lightly press the gas pedal, but squeezed it all the way. Consequently, the fuel injection increases several times along with the torque, and the car tears and flies. But here there is one more question - what prevents the driver himself from pressing the accelerator pedal, having pressed it into the mat?
