Going on a trip to Europe, you should at least roughly know the prices for gasoline in the countries you visit, so that one fine moment you do not end up with an empty wallet at an empty fuel tank.
The difference in gasoline prices in different European countries is determined by the pricing policy adopted in the state, in which certain taxes may be incorporated. Most of all, Norwegian residents and tourists have to pay, the price of a liter of gasoline as of May 2013 here is just under 2 euros. The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and Italy are only slightly behind Norway. Here the cost of the precious liquid is in the range of 1.7 euros per liter. Next on the list is Germany, where a liter of gasoline costs about 1.6 euros, of which 65 cents goes towards the so-called "mineral tax". The German tax on diesel is 47 cents. As a result, refueling a diesel car is somewhat cheaper than its petrol counterpart. Those who are driving through Germany towards Austria should not fill up the tank, they should wait until the border is crossed and only then look for a gas station. In May 2013, one liter of gasoline in Austria cost 1.38 euros. Gasoline will become even cheaper if you go to Poland instead of Austria. Here, as in Romania, the cost of gasoline ranges from 1.25-1.27 euros per liter. Also, fuel is relatively inexpensive in Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Luxembourg. But we must not forget the golden rule, which says about the dependence of supply on existing demand. The price of gasoline in any country rises slightly towards weekends and holidays, becomes lower at the beginning or in the middle of the working week. The numbers on the gas station display can even track the schedule of school holidays. As soon as school finishes, the price of fuel jumps noticeably, adjusting to the increased demand caused by the fact that many families immediately go on a trip. Well, and the most important rule that will help to significantly save the cost of refueling a car is to avoid, if possible, gas stations located directly on the autobahns. Their prices exceed those generally accepted in the country by 5 or even 10 cents. Nowadays, when almost every car is equipped with a navigation system, it will not be difficult to find a normal gas station in the village closest to the exit, go back to the highway, having lost at most 10-15 minutes, while significantly reducing the cost of gasoline.
