The desire to change the dynamic characteristics of the car for the better and the desire to revive its appearance brought the concept of a spoiler into the everyday life of motorists. Today you can buy a ready-made spoiler, but you can make one yourself.
Necessary
- - polystyrene with a size of 100x100 cm and a thickness of up to 5 cm;
- - paint to match the color of your car, about a couple of cans;
- - iron sheet (no more than 1.5 mm thick);
- - putty and primer up to three jars;
- - epoxy glue of the order of two kilograms;
- - brushes for applying glue, you can Chinese;
- - sandpaper;
- - fiberglass or carbon fiber;
- - LEDs and neon lights.
Instructions
Step 1
At home, cut out the "blade" of the wing from Styrofoam, it is better to do this diagonally to fit into the dimensions.
Step 2
Start making the mount. Cut the plates out of the iron sheet. Drill 3 mm holes no more than 30 mm apart. Bend the plate in the form of the Latin letter L (it is more convenient to fasten). Weld nuts with a diameter of 6 mm into the base. Gently glue them to the foam blanks, paste over with fiberglass (carbon fiber). Apply at least three coats of fiberglass. When gluing, keep the interval so that the adhesive has time to polymerize. To speed up the process, you can slightly warm it up. Remember, you don't need to prepare a lot of glue as if you don't use it up right away, it will harden quickly. The glue has not yet hardened, it is well washed under running hot water. Foam crumbs tend to stick, touch grounded objects to relieve static electricity.
Step 3
Lay the wires into the glued spoiler, if you decide to make a brake light or side lights, install neon lights and LEDs.
Step 4
Prime the spoiler surface, apply a putty, sand with sandpaper and prepare for painting.
Step 5
Color the resulting workpiece.
Step 6
Install the spoiler to the prepared place.
