The braking system of any car must be constantly in good condition. To prevent cracking and failure of the rubber front brake hoses, they should be lubricated with silicone grease and checked periodically. If there is any suspicion of a defect, they should be replaced immediately. The life of the driver and passengers depends on it.
Necessary
- - special wrench for 8 or 10 for brake pipes;
- - balloon wrench;
- - key for 17, 14;
- - transparent vinyl tube;
- - sealing copper washers;
- - penetrating lubricant;
- - a container for draining the old brake fluid;
- - new brake fluid (class DOT-4).
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the vehicle for the operations being performed. To do this, place the car on a flat surface, place wheel stops on the opposite side of the suspended wheel.
Step 2
Jack up the front of the vehicle on the left or right. Place the machine on blocks so that it is not supported by one jack. Take the wheel wrench and remove the wheel.
Step 3
Apply a special penetrating grease to replaceable threads and fasteners of the brake system. This will make them easier to unscrew. This work must be done in advance so that the grease can penetrate deep into the joint.
Step 4
Use pliers to remove the brake hose retaining clip in the body bracket. While holding the tip of the brake hose with a 17 wrench from turning, unscrew the brake pipe fitting with a 10 wrench.
Step 5
Pull out the brake hose from the bracket, put the protective cap of the bleed union on the brake pipe to avoid brake fluid leakage. Unscrew with a key "10" the bolt for fastening the caliper, which fixes the brake hose, and remove it.
Step 6
Take a 14 wrench, unscrew the brake hose mounting bolt and remove the hose. Install the new hose in reverse order. In this case, the copper sealing washers must be replaced. After installing a new brake hose, bleed the brake system.
Step 7
Add the brake fluid to the brake reservoir for pumping to the level of the MAX mark. Remove the protective cap from the fitting. Put a transparent hose on it, lower it into a container with brake fluid. This will allow not to "pump" air into the brake system when pumping the brakes, in addition, the air escaping from it will be visible.
Step 8
Invite an assistant. He will press the brake pedal and hold it down. Press the brake pedal three times as far as it will go. Hold it in this position, at the same time unscrew the bleed fitting with a key of 8 or 10. The accumulated air will escape into the container with the liquid. Tighten the union and repeat the operation again until all the air is out of the system. Monitor and add brake fluid to the reservoir. When finished, screw on the bleed fitting tightly, remove the tube, put on the protective cap and put the wheel back in place.
