Fog lights are designed to improve visibility in bad weather: rain, snowstorm, fog. The maximum benefit can be obtained from them if, after installation, the correct adjustment is made.
Instructions
Step 1
The correct installation of the headlights will help facilitate the adjustment process. Remember that you need to fix the fog lights at a height of about 25 cm from the ground. Also, make sure that they protrude beyond the dimensions of the vehicle more than the dipped beam headlights. The optimal distance to the car body is approximately 40 cm.
Step 2
Be sure to adjust the horizontal and vertical angles of the fog lamps after installation. Any deviation will significantly reduce the efficiency of the instruments. To make the adjustment, find a screen or a vertical wall against which you stand firmly on the vehicle. Using a pencil, mark the centers of the headlights on it and draw a line that is 10 cm below these points. Then drive the car 5 meters away from the wall and turn on the fog lights.
Step 3
Take a close look at the wall. When properly adjusted, the top of the light spots will line up with the horizontal line you drew. Also measure the distance between the centers of the light spots, the optimal distance for them is about 120 cm.
Step 4
If there are no vertical walls nearby, ask the assistant to cover one headlamp with a piece of cardboard and tilt the other down. At this time yourself, move about 20 meters away from the car. The position of the headlights when they provide maximum illumination of the area under your feet will be optimal. Adjust the second headlight in the same way.
Step 5
Be sure to check the functionality of the installed fog lights. To do this, choose a rainy or twilight day, and, having driven out onto the road, try them out in action. If there are any defects or deficiencies, contact specialized centers, where you will have a computerized headlight adjustment.
