While driving, together with the car body, the optics located at the level of the bumper are bombarded with stones and debris. To protect outdoor lighting fixtures from damage, cover them with protective foil.

It is necessary

  • - film
  • - rubber scraper
  • - hairdryer
  • - rags
  • - knife
  • - scissors
  • - technical alcohol

Instructions

Step 1

Pick up the material. For booking headlights made of plastic, a protective film of 100 microns is most often used. For glass headlights, a coating with a thickness of one to two millimeters. A thicker film provides reliable protection for the headlamp, however, its adhesion in this case is impaired. It is necessary to decide the question of choosing between the quality of fit and the degree of protection.

Step 2

Clean the headlamp from dirt and dust. Degrease the surface thoroughly with industrial alcohol or a special degreaser.

Step 3

Use scissors or a knife to cut a piece of plastic. Do not forget to leave along the edges of the cutout element, corresponding in shape and size to the pasted headlamp, two centimeters for allowances. Without removing the protective coating, heat the surface of the film with a hair dryer so that it gains elasticity and better takes the convex shape of the lighting device.

Step 4

Remove the protective layer of the film from one edge and with this edge attach the fragment to the headlight, smooth it. Then carefully peel the film off the protective layer and at the same time smooth it over the surface of the headlight. Remember that the cover should fit as tightly as possible. Do not allow air bubbles to appear underneath. If they do occur, smooth out the film with a soft cloth, pressing on it and squeezing out the air.

Step 5

After gluing, trim off excess material from the edges. Make cuts in the corners to ensure the correct shape of the film and the maximum adhesion. In doing so, try not to damage the surface of the headlight with a knife or scissors.

Step 6

Take a tint rubber squeegee and smooth down the applied coating. Do not wash the car within two days from the moment of pasting. In the future, do not clean the film with detergents containing polishing abrasives, avoid washing it with high pressure water.
