During the operation of KamAZ, a moment may come when a knock appears in the engine, the power drops, and "shots" are heard from the muffler. You can, of course, go to a car service, but it is quite possible to fix the malfunction on your own, if only the clearances in the valves are misaligned.

Necessary

  • - a set of wrenches with nozzles;
  • - a lever (small crowbar, crowbar, etc.) for manually turning the camshaft;
  • - Probes for measuring gaps;
  • - torque wrench;
  • - instruction manual for the KamAZ car.

Instructions

Step 1

First you need to shut off the fuel supply, then carefully dismantle the hatch cover located in the lower half of the crankcase (for turning the crankshaft by hand) and the cylinder head covers. Be extremely careful, otherwise damage the gaskets. Using a torque wrench, check the tightening of the cylinder block bolts (from 19 to 21 kgf / m).

Step 2

Set the crankcase flywheel to the lower position. To do this, pull back the lock and then rotate the flywheel 90 degrees. Set the crankshaft to the position corresponding to fuel injection into the first and fifth cylinders of the engine (look at the pictures, as well as additional instructions in the operating instructions). The crankshaft must be rotated using a lever, crowbar, crowbar or similar object, inserting it into the holes located on the outside of the flywheel.

Step 3

Using the same torque wrench, check how the nuts on the rocker arms of the cylinders being adjusted are tightened. The resulting value should fluctuate between 4, 2 and 5, 4 kgf / m. Tighten the nuts if necessary. Also remember to check the gap between the rocker tip and the valve end. Its value should be of such a value that the probe 0.25 for the supply valve and 0.35 for the inlet valve passes quietly, and 0.3 and 0.4 - already with voltage. If the clearances do not meet these requirements, correct them using special adjustment screws. The tightening torque of each individual adjustment screw should be 3, 4-4, 2 kgf / m.

Step 4

It remains to start the engine and listen to how it functions. If the valves are adjusted correctly, no knocking sounds and other extraneous noise in the gas distribution mechanism should be heard. Reinstall the removed crankcase hatch and cylinder head covers.
