Any damage found during the inspection on the alternator belt poses a threat to its continued operation. As soon as possible, you should visit a store that sells automotive spare parts in order to purchase a new drive part for the specified device.

Instructions
Step 1
For safety reasons, replacement of the alternator drive belt is carried out on a cooled engine to avoid burns to the body.
Step 2
At the car, the hood rises to provide access to the engine compartment, then with a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the two bolts tightening the terminals on the battery (one for each).
Step 3
The terminals are removed from the battery and two nuts are unscrewed on the mounting plate, after which it is removed, and the battery is removed from the socket.
Step 4
With a 17 mm wrench, unscrew the nut on the tension bar by two or three turns, and then loosen the lower mounting bolt of the generator, which subsequently moves as close as possible to the engine block.
Step 5
The belt, if the engine is equipped with an electric fan of the cooling system, is removed from the pulleys of the pump, crankshaft and generator, and then removed.
Step 6
From a motor with an impeller mounted on the flange of the water pump, the V-drive is removed after it has been pulled out through the fan blades.
Step 7
After installing a new drive belt, the generator is moved by a pry bar from the engine block to the engine compartment mudguard and is fixed on the tensioning bar with a nut, which is tightened with a 17 mm wrench.
Step 8
Then the degree of tension of the belt drive is checked:
- in wedge-shaped, in old-style cars with rear-wheel drive, the deflection in the center of the belt between the pulleys of the water pump and the generator should not exceed one and a half centimeters when exerting a force on it from above, equal to three to four kilograms;
- in machines with front-wheel drive equipped with a flat belt, this parameter corresponds to a maximum deflection of one centimeter after pressing on its center between the pulleys with a force of ten kilograms.
Step 9
In cases where the degree of tension of the alternator belt does not correspond to the required technical parameters, an adjustment is made.
