Twice a year, any motorist in Russia is faced with the problem of changing tires. It is associated with seasonal changes in the weather. Some people opt for universal, all-season tires.

All-season rubber has more disadvantages than positive qualities. Therefore, most people still prefer "summer" and "winter" tires. This allows you to reduce the risk of accidents and improve the car's handling in any of the seasons.

The most important question that arises before the car owner is not even “What to change for?”, But “When to change?”.

World experience says that when using modern tires, regardless of whether they are studded, it is best when the average air temperature per day has reached a level of + 5 … + 7 degrees Celsius. In Central Russia, it is best to "change shoes" a car at the end of October.

Remember that light frosts will make your car on summer tires uncontrollable on the road.

In the spring, the picture that awaits you is no better. At temperatures above +10, winter tires, heating up under the rays of the sun, become soft and plastic, literally smeared on the asphalt, the tread pattern is erased. It will also not add controllability. Thus, it is best to change winter tires to summer tires before they overheat, but only after the air temperature becomes steadily positive at night, i.e. will fit into the working range of summer tires.

Therefore, use extreme caution when driving until the temperature is stable after changing tires.

When to change summer tires to winter ones also depends on what you have chosen: winter studded or winter non-studded. Initially, it is better to take non-studded winter tires, putting it, as already mentioned, at a temperature of about +5 degrees Celsius. In case of further cold snap and the appearance of ice-covered phenomena, change the tires to winter studded ones, at about -3 … -5 degrees. In general, this method is very expensive. Better to focus on one view. Remember one thing: winter studded tires slow down 7% longer on asphalt and 20% faster on ice. If in your city the roads are regularly cleaned, choose winter studless tires.
