The reason for the difficult start of the car engine, as a rule, is an insufficiently charged battery, but sometimes the starter also becomes a similar reason.

Necessary

  • 13 mm spanner,
  • 10 mm spanner,
  • screwdrivers 2 pcs,
  • round nose pliers for removing retaining rings.

Instructions

Step 1

To refute or confirm the suspicions that have arisen, it is enough to check the density of the electrolyte in the battery. And in the case when the worst predictions were confirmed, it is necessary to remove and disassemble the starter.

Step 2

The hood will rise, the cable is removed from the battery, and all electrical wiring connected to it is disconnected from the starter. Then the three bolts of the starter attachment 35.3708 to the engine are unscrewed, after which it is dismantled and disassembled.

Step 3

Disassembly of the starter begins with the removal of the solenoid relay, on which the contact wire of the output of the stator windings is disconnected from the lower terminal. Then the nuts securing the retractor relay are unscrewed, and it is removed from the starter.

Step 4

Further, at the back, the screws for securing the protective casing are unscrewed, which is also removed. After that, the retaining ring is dismantled, and the bolts tightening the starter covers are unscrewed with a 10 mm wrench, and the terminals of the stator windings connected to the brush holders are disconnected.

Step 5

Then both starter covers are removed. And the plug is removed from the front. On the back cover, the body of the brush holders is dismantled, the springs and graphite brushes are removed.

Step 6

On the front cover, after removing the cotter pin and removing the axis of the gearing gear drive lever ("bendex"), the assembly is removed from the starter anchor, after removing the retaining ring on the front end of the armature shaft, and only then the lever for moving the starting gear is disconnected.

Step 7

After a detailed disassembly of the starter, a thorough defect inspection of all its parts is carried out. Those that have fallen into disrepair, as well as those that have defects that cannot be repaired, are replaced with new spare parts. The starter is assembled in reverse order.
