Improving your car is the duty of every motorist. There are innovations that should be made only in specialized services, there are also those that you can do yourself. However, you should be more than careful with independent modifications of the car interior. If you are not confident in your abilities and knowledge, then it is better to entrust the tuning of your car to professionals.

One of the most important details in the perception of a car, of course, is the steering wheel. If you want to change something in the car, then it would be wise to start with the steering wheel. Also, this is the part that will be relatively easy to change. To sheathe the steering wheel, you need to perform the following sequence.

First, choose the material with which you will fit the steering wheel. It is better if it is a dense and pleasant to the touch material. The ideal option is, of course, natural leather or high-quality leatherette. Based on the size of the handlebar, estimate the size of the cut from which you will cut. It is better to do this in advance, so that at the last moment it does not become clear that something is missing.

Now you need to take a sheet of Whatman paper and draw a pattern on it - a pattern for the steering wheel. Since the steering wheel is round in shape, you will have to make a lot of patterns. Cut the paper until the template fits perfectly on the bend of the steering wheel.

To properly cut out details from leather, you need to know some of the nuances of working with leather. Place the template on the seamy side of the leather cut, press the template against the skin and carefully outline its shape with an awl. It is better to cut out the details with a special knife. If not, take either a very sharp knife or scissors.

When the part is ready, you need to make a series of holes along its edges. The holes should be made quite far from the edge of the part and from each other. From the remaining scraps, you need to cut a long lace, or you can use a separately purchased, ready-made cord. In addition, for the sake of appearance, it is worth taking a finished leather part and burning it with a soldering iron. This should only be done by those who know how to work with a soldering iron. Otherwise, you can harm yourself, your leather product and the soldering iron.

Now you can start attaching the leather to the steering wheel. Remember, in order to sheathe the steering wheel with leather, you must first remove the old covering from the steering wheel. When all that is unnecessary is removed, you can start covering. To do this, attach a leather piece to the steering wheel and "lace up" it. Neat and tight lacing will look good. In addition, lacing will allow you to hide possible inaccuracies made when creating patterns.
