Car glass surface wear is a common problem faced by car owners. Sooner or later, micro-scratches will inevitably form on auto glass. Do not rush to replace the glass, because if the scratches are shallow, the transparency of the glass is easy to restore.
Necessary
- - abrasive;
- - felt flap;
- - photopolymer;
- - Grinder;
- - pasta.
Instructions
Step 1
Polishing is considered to be the most common way to eliminate defects in automotive glass. When processing glass, a layer of microns is removed. During this procedure, an abrasive is used in the form of a fine-grained paste, for example, GOI, Crocus or Polarit paste.
Step 2
If the areas of glass scuffs are small, for example, from "wipers", to restore the transparency of the auto glass, use a felt flap with applied diamond (finishing) paste. But in this case, you can only get rid of the dullness of the worn areas.
Step 3
Glass scratches with a depth of 200-300 microns cannot be removed by polishing. In this case, it is recommended to use a photopolymer: with its help, damage can be eliminated by 70-80%. To level the surface of the damaged area, the glass must be sanded and then polished.
Step 4
As a rule, small damaged areas of glass are ground or polished by hand. If the rubbed area is large, an electric grinder is used in the work.
Step 5
For grinding glass, use abrasive paper No. 200-800, abrasive paste based on boron nitrides and carbides, as well as grinding and intermediate diamond paste. Remember a simple rule: the thicker the removed layer, the coarser should be the grain of the abrasive material used.
Step 6
Sand the thick layer in two or three passes with a gradual reduction in the grain size of the paste. Sand very carefully. Marriage is unacceptable.
