The ignition coil is an automobile generator, which is one of the main components of the ignition system of an automobile engine. It converts the sharp drop in voltage from the switch into a high voltage pulse.

Necessary

  • - a clean cloth;
  • - key 8 mm;
  • - 10 mm socket wrench.

Instructions

Step 1

The first step is to prepare your vehicle for operations. To do this, it is necessary to wash the engine compartment by hand, while treating this compartment with special detergents and a jet of water under high pressure, followed by drying. Remember that washing the engine compartment should be done with the wire disconnected from the negative terminal of the battery, and avoid getting water on the sensors, alternator, starter and pads.

Step 2

Then place the vehicle on a level, horizontal surface and open the hood. Do not forget about the most important thing, namely that the work should be carried out with the ignition off. After you open the hood, disconnect the negative battery cable. Carefully and very carefully remove the high-voltage wire from the socket on the cover of the coil itself. Next, take an 8 mm key and unscrew the two nuts of the terminal for securing the two wires of the ignition coil output and disconnect the wires that lead to the main contact of the distributor and ensure the operation of the economizer and the forced idle tachometer. Remember that a red-blue or blue wire with a black stripe or an orange wire is attached to the “+ B” terminal of the coil - it all depends on the brand of your car.

Step 3

Using a 10 mm socket wrench, loosen the two nuts securing the coil bracket to the bulkhead of the body, but do not turn them off completely. Then, sliding the detached bracket along the grooves from the studs, remove the ignition coil itself. For convenience, experienced car enthusiasts recommend putting all parts on a clean cloth so as not to lose any element. Remember that the process of removing the ignition coil is done very carefully and carefully.

Step 4

And do not forget that the installation of the ignition coil is carried out in the same order as removal. If necessary, you can clean all the elements from dirt and rinse the coil itself with special means.
