Replacing liners requires experience in repairing car engines, so in such cases it is customary to contact a car service. However, you can choose the correct size of repair parts and purchase them yourself.
It is necessary
- - a set of wrenches for disassembling the engine;
- - vernier caliper;
- - calibration plastic wire.
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to dismantle the engine and place it in a position convenient for further disassembly. Next, you need to remove the pallet, the oil pump and unscrew the main, connecting rod caps that cover the liners, which are, in fact, sliding bearings. In this process, the participation of a specialist is desirable, who, with the help of a caliper, will determine which journal of the crankshaft has become the "culprit" of the engine malfunctioning.
Step 2
The next step is to bore the crankshaft to the nearest size. It is necessary to purchase the liners only after the necks have already been ground - the mechanic will tell you the required size of the liners. Bushings are sold in a set designed for connecting rod or main journals.
Step 3
The liners are installed on a new or ground crankshaft. For engines manufactured at VAZ, there are 4 repair sizes of liners with a step of 0.25 mm: 0.25 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.75 mm, 1.0 mm. For engines produced at GAZ and AZLK (plus the Izhevsk plant), there is also a 5th, 6th size of the crankshaft bore: 1, 25 mm and 1, 5 mm; the size of the liner is indicated on its surface.
Step 4
The bored crankshaft must be blown out with compressed air to remove the chips remaining after machining the part. When installing the liners, the latter must be lubricated with engine oil. The elements of the crank mechanism are mounted "lock to lock". If you do not have experience in engine repair, then it is better to entrust the work to a specialist.
