It is necessary to change the oil in the lubrication system of Nissan gasoline engines every fifteen thousand kilometers or every year of vehicle operation. This simple procedure, which will allow the engine to last longer and run more stable, can be done independently without resorting to the services of a technical center.
It is necessary
- - motor oil
- - container for draining used oil
- - oil filter
- - the sealing ring of the drain hole
- - stands for car repair (goats)
- - old newspapers
- - protective gloves
Instructions
Step 1
Warm up the engine. It is best to drain used oil when your Nissan engine is at operating temperature. So, start the car and wait until the coolant temperature gauge pointer is within the operating range. After making sure that everything was done correctly, install the machine on the repair stands, in other words, on the trestle.
Step 2
Drain the used oil. To begin with, place a container under the drain neck in which you intend to collect the oil flowing from the engine. Remember that it must be large enough. It is best to use a special pallet for this purpose, but in the absence of one, you can easily get by with an ordinary metal bucket or basin. Remember to cover the floor around with newspaper to avoid stubborn stains and mess. Unscrew the filler cap under the hood, then carefully unscrew the drain cap. At first, the oil will run out with a little pressure, so be prepared for this.
Step 3
Prepare the cover. While your Nissan's engine oil is draining, take the drain cap that you unscrewed earlier and clean it with a clean cloth. Remove the old O-ring and replace it with a new one.
Step 4
Replace the oil filter. To do this, you may need a special multi-sided wrench designed for oil filters, or a so-called strap wrench. If your oil filter does not have a key recess, then you can simply punch a hole in the used filter with a screwdriver, and use it as a lever to unscrew the old filter. The rubber ring of the new oil filter should be lubricated with a drop of clean engine oil before it can be replaced.
Step 5
Refill with new oil. When the used oil is completely drained, screw on the drain cap and tighten. Fill in fresh oil of the viscosity and grade required for your Nissan. When choosing an oil, follow these simple rules:
- follow the recommendations of the manufacturer of your car;
- never mix oils of different grades and viscosities;
- if you want to change the brand of oil, when changing, first use flushing oil or flush the engine with, in fact, new oil, fill it and drain it several times after that, and then replace it after several thousand kilometers to flush the engine completely.
Step 6
Start the engine. Let the car run while inspecting the oil filter and drain. Make sure there are no smudges anywhere. If everything is in order, remove the vehicle from the repair stands and let it run for a few more minutes to allow the oil to drain into the sump. Check the oil level with the dipstick. Done!
