To navigate the water on a motor boat, boat or jet ski, it is not enough to master the skills of driving these vehicles. To be able to operate small boats, you need to undergo appropriate training and obtain a license. The procedure for obtaining such a document is in many ways similar to obtaining a driving license for an ordinary car.
Instructions
Step 1
Contact the State Inspection for Small Vessels (GIMS EMERCOM of the Russian Federation) in your region. There you will receive detailed information on the requirements for documents for passing the exam, you can read the text of examination tickets and sign up for preparatory courses that prepare future shipowners for driving small boats.
Step 2
Sign up for courses that train navigators under the GIMS program. This can be either courses organized directly by the small craft inspectorate, or private training. Typically, these training events take place throughout the year. The approximate training period is one month or a little more. Classes are usually held at a convenient time, two to three times a week.
Step 3
If you are a busy person, look for courses with an intensive training program. The training program includes a theoretical part and practical driving of small boats. Upon completion of the courses, a corresponding certificate of completion of the training is issued, indicating the number of hours of theory and practice.
Step 4
After completing theoretical and practical training, pass certification in the State Inspection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in your region. The certification consists of two parts. First, you are tested on examination tickets, which takes no more than 30-40 minutes, and at the second stage you will be asked to demonstrate your skills in managing a small vessel (motor boat or motorboat).
Step 5
If you have successfully passed the certification in the inspection, wait for the conclusion of the commission, after which you will be issued a certificate of the established state standard. The standard validity period for such a document is 10 years.
Step 6
Please be aware that driving a small motor boat without a license is not permitted. And this applies not only to owners of boats and motorboats. In some cases, you will not even be able to get a boat for rent at the rental offices if you do not show the right to drive a motorboat. The exception is the owners of small boats equipped with an engine of no more than 5 hp.
