The clutch on the car is designed to smoothly connect the gearbox to the engine, in other words, it allows you to associate the movement of the wheels with the engine speed. The clutch pedal relieves friction and allows the engine flywheel to be smoothly coupled to the transmission shaft for starting or shifting. A smooth start of movement from a standstill can only be achieved by correctly squeezing the clutch.

Instructions

Step 1

All clutch exercises at the initial stage must be carried out strictly in a straight line, and the front wheels must be straight.

Step 2

Sit in the car and make sure the car is on the handbrake and in neutral. Then turn the ignition key and start the car engine.

Step 3

With your left foot, fully depress the clutch pedal and depress it all the way. Put your right foot on the brake pedal so that in case of a slope in the road surface, you have time to brake in time if the car rolls back or forward. Engage first speed and release the handbrake.

Step 4

Begin to release the clutch pedal smoothly until you feel the moment it engages. Pay attention to the tachometer readings - the arrow on the scoreboard should flinch and the number of revolutions should increase.

Step 5

Lock your foot in this position and shift your right foot off the brake pedal to the accelerator to add rpm and help the vehicle move smoothly. Slowly increase the throttle and continue to release the clutch pedal with your left foot.

Step 6

After the clutch is released, you can add a little gas. To smoothly change the speed, you must release the gas pedal and simultaneously depress the clutch, and then move the gear lever to neutral. Then, after a short delay, shift the lever to the desired position. With your left foot, gently release the clutch while depressing the accelerator pedal.

Step 7

When changing gears, the clutch can be released in one motion to avoid jerking the vehicle. However, the left foot must be moved without lifting it from the pedal, in parallel, slowly and gradually depressing the gas pedal. If you squeeze the gas suddenly, it can lead to excessive consumption of fuel and a sharp roar of the car.
