On old cars, it was possible to do without a battery: the engine was started with a pusher or a handle. There are too many smart electronics installed on modern vehicles, which will simply prevent the engine from starting without power. Therefore, when returning the iron horse to an active life after a winter holiday, do not forget to connect the battery correctly and check its voltage.
Instructions
Step 1
The main function of a battery or battery in a car is to start the engine. In addition, it is a power source for various electrical appliances: headlights, heating, radio, alarm, heater fan and others when they are used with the engine off. To connect the battery, open the hood of the car and secure it with the support leg.
Step 2
Inspect the battery installation location. Wipe off dirt, dust and debris. The battery should fit snugly into its intended location.
Step 3
Inspect the battery terminals and leads. If they are covered with a layer of oxides, clean them. Apply conductive grease to the terminals after stripping.
Step 4
Install the battery. Connect the wire terminals to the battery terminals. Connect the cable to the positive, positive terminal of the battery first. Connect the wire to the negative terminal second.
Step 5
If the design of the car provides for the presence of any battery fixing elements, for example, a clamping bracket, install them in the designated places and secure with the appropriate fastening nuts. Check that the battery is installed securely.
Step 6
To check if the battery is installed correctly, turn on the headlights or other electrical appliances. Their work will be a clear sign that you have successfully completed the task of connecting the battery.
