Insulation of a metal garage is necessary in the cold season, because this operation helps to save heat and make the conditions for the car's stay more comfortable. In addition, it allows for car repairs even on the coldest days.
Necessary
polystyrene, wooden beams, insulation, foam, self-tapping screws, bolts
Instructions
Step 1
The first step is to buy the materials needed for insulation. In order to choose the right building material and not go for the missing elements again, carefully measure the dimensions of the garage. Try to get everything in advance and deliver it to its destination.
Step 2
First, insulate the floor, remove the existing boards, then lay a layer of polyethylene on the ground to prevent moisture from entering. Lay a layer of insulation and fix the new boards using self-tapping screws. Tackle the ceiling. Screw the blocks into the upper rails if they are not long enough to lay the foam flush.
Step 3
Attach the foam to the ceiling using longitudinal guides, which, after insulating material is slipped under them, are screwed to the transverse ones. Another method of fastening is polyurethane foam, but here you need to hold the foam for a long time so that the foam hardens.
Step 4
Lay insulation, such as Isover, on top of the foam. Attach it partly to the cross-rails and partly to the foam. Do not forget to put washers or pieces of cardboard over the screws to increase the contact area. After that, attach a glass-magnesium sheet to the ceiling - it will not only help keep warm, but also prevent moisture from entering.
Step 5
For wall insulation, use the same principle as for the ceiling. However, attach the longitudinal bars directly to the metal upholstery of the garage. Fill the slots with a sufficient amount of polyurethane foam. After that, lay the insulation and secure everything with self-tapping screws. Lay out the garage door with styrofoam, as well as conduct electrical wiring so that heating devices can be connected.
