If a dent appears on the body of your car, you can try to repair it yourself. Whether it will be possible to do this or not - it largely depends on how serious the deformation is.
Necessary
- - an ordinary hammer;
- - rubber hammer (mallet);
- - wooden block (length - from 15 to 20 cm, width - 10 cm);
- - clean rags (cotton old rag)
Instructions
Step 1
When hitting a car with something, it will almost certainly leave a very unattractive trace from external influences. Conditionally, it is possible to divide the dented areas into 2 main types, which: - there is a real chance to eliminate; - will remain on the car for good. For example, a trail from a blow of a small child who accidentally collided with a standing car and decided to "hit back" with some object, can be eliminated without consequences. If there was a collision of a car with another vehicle, it will most likely be impossible to return the damaged area to its original appearance.
Step 2
For any area that has been hit, the technology for eliminating a dent on the body of a car is almost the same, except for some minor nuances. For example, if you need to remove a defect on a car door, then first you need to clear the space for work: raise the glass all the way, remove the inner lining and noise insulation.
Step 3
After that, find the dent when looking at the inside of the door. On the same side, straighten the skin with very light taps with a rubber mallet. If this method does not help, wrap a wooden block with a rag (clean rag), attach it to the area with a dent, and then try to straighten it with very light tapping. Thus, you can gradually eliminate this problem.
Step 4
If you need to remove a dent on the fender of a car, first open the trunk and remove the trim. In this case, there will be much more free space for work. Further technology is the same as in the previous case. After removing the dent completely, it is advisable to carefully polish the corrected area. This way you can remove even the smallest traces of deformation.
Step 5
More serious damage cannot be repaired completely without leaving a trace. For example, if a car door is hit with something sharp, the result will be a shallow, but sharp-angled dent on the skin. In this case, the metal will not be able to spring, since the deformation area is very small. Therefore, wide dents lend themselves better to correction.
Step 6
To remove a sharp dent from the car's upholstery, you will need a block of wood. Its size should be large enough so that you can rest it against the depressed area and hit the block with a hammer. Using this method, you can flatten the cavity. However, the outer side of this section of the car will still remain quite badly damaged, and it will no longer be possible to fix it. The only thing that can be done is to minimize deformation.
Step 7
After you have straightened out the dent, you need to sand the entire area with fine sandpaper, then putty and paint it.
