There are many ways to get from point A to point B. Each of them offers a different speed, safety, comfort, cost and environmental impact. It is almost impossible to compare them, but it is not difficult to identify the optimal one in a certain category.
The fastest mode of transport
The flight will not save you time if the distance is short. First of all, you must arrive at the airport an hour and a half before departure. Do not forget that the way to the landing site will take at least thirty minutes by taxi or bus. In total, you will spend two hours just preparing for the trip. You can get from Moscow to Tver much faster. Therefore, flying is beneficial only when you are going on a very long trip. Weather conditions are very important for flights. In bad weather, you can stay at the airport for a long time. But at the same time, there are places where you can get only by plane. This is, for example, when flying from continent to continent.
Remember that preparation time is wasted time as you cannot do something useful. But when you are inside an airplane, train, or bus, you can read, study, work, or just sleep. The latter is especially good to do on the train if you buy a ticket in a compartment with a full berth.
Night trains are often more convenient than airplanes. This is because the time you spend sleeping on the train will not be wasted. If, for example, the journey by plane can take up to three hours, then the train will travel to the same settlement for eleven hours. But if you sleep well for eight hours, then it will be better than fiddling with baggage check at the airport. It also saves you the cost of a hotel room.
The cheapest form of transport
If you buy tickets in advance, you can save some, often very significant, amount of money. By the way, tickets can be bought three or even four months before the flight.
If you arrive at the station a few hours before the departure of the bus, then the probability of buying a ticket will be quite high. The price of bus tickets will not change significantly depending on how early you buy them. With trains, everything is the same as with vehicles.
If you are traveling by car, then it is best to do it not by yourself, but with a group of friends. The fact is that the cost of fuel in this case, as a rule, is divided equally among all, and everyone pays a little.
The safest mode of transport
Flying is much safer than driving. Safety is the death toll divided by the total number of flights. For example, if 140 people want to cover a distance of 3000 kilometers, then they need only one plane. If they go, then they need 70 cars, provided that two people sit in one car. The total distance traveled will be only 3,000 kilometers by plane or 210,000 kilometers by car. Thus, the risk of an accident increases seventy times. Therefore, even if cars are perceived by people as one of the safest modes of transport, this is not always true in reality.
However, the safest option, in terms of statistics, would be to opt for a train. This statement is true in every sense. Even if some part of the locomotive engine fails, the train will simply stop.
